A strange little side quest
Pirates Merge: War Path may feel immediate, but the ideas around strategy games have been evolving for a very long time. Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That gives Pirates Merge: War Path a little more company than it first appears to have.
