A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Pirates: Find the Diffs is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. That gives Pirates: Find the Diffs a little more company than it first appears to have.
