A strange little side quest
Put Painting Lovely Girl next to the history of fashion and style and a few unexpected connections appear. By the 1890s, department stores and mail-order catalogs were selling mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes in standardized styles and price ranges. That is only half the story. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Painting Lovely Girl feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
