A strange little side quest

Math Multiple Choice may feel immediate, but the ideas around puzzles have been evolving for a very long time. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. That gives Math Multiple Choice a little more company than it first appears to have.
