A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Math Duel is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. The Oregon Trail began in 1971 when three student teachers created a computer simulation to help Minnesota schoolchildren learn American history. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That long chain of experiments is part of why learning games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
