Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware.
