A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Kings and Pigs for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. And then there is this: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That long chain of experiments is part of why role-playing games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
