A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Jigsaw Puzzle Classic is anything but tiny. Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: The Oregon Trail eventually appeared across generations of computer hardware and sold tens of millions of copies, making it one of the most enduring educational games. That long chain of experiments is part of why puzzles still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
