A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Highway Rush 3D is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game, decades before modern 3D racers. The same trail leads to another fact: Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario.
