A strange little side quest
Before the next round of Haunted School, here is a piece of the bigger picture. The Oregon Trail eventually appeared across generations of computer hardware and sold tens of millions of copies, making it one of the most enduring educational games. And the history keeps stacking up: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Haunted School feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
