A strange little side quest
A quick detour while Necromancer II: Crypt of the Pixels waits for your next move: Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
