A strange little side quest
Put Happy Tree Friends - Lumpy Artist next to the history of archery and a few unexpected connections appear. Women competed in Olympic archery as early as 1904, making it one of the early Olympic sports to include women. A second detail makes the picture even better: Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
