A strange little side quest
Put Ghost Ship next to the history of strategy games and a few unexpected connections appear. Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That long chain of experiments is part of why strategy games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
