A strange little side quest
The mechanics around Gate Crashers have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. During much of the 19th century in the United States, visibly painted cosmetics became socially unacceptable even though beauty practices never disappeared. It also connects to a different milestone: The word 'checkmate' is linked to the Persian expression 'shah mat', used when the king was trapped.
