A strange little side quest
One reason role-playing games keeps producing good game ideas around Game of Goose: Classic Edition is that its history is full of strange turns. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. That is only half the story. Modern chess traces back to the Indian game chaturanga, recorded around the sixth century and built around pieces representing parts of an army. Not bad for a few facts hiding behind a Play button.
