The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Four Color Theorem is anything but tiny. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. A second detail makes the picture even better: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era.
