A strange little side quest
Formula may feel immediate, but the ideas around racing have been evolving for a very long time. Formula 1 introduced pit-lane speed limits during the 1994 season as safety concerns grew around increasingly fast cars and busier pit lanes. It also connects to a different milestone: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. So a round of Formula is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer racing timeline.
