A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind FNF: Whitty Erect is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. And the history keeps stacking up: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That long chain of experiments is part of why arcade history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
