A strange little side quest
One reason space keeps producing good game ideas around Fixed Point In Space is that its history is full of strange turns. Our solar system formed about 4.6 billion years ago from a cloud of gas and dust collapsing under gravity. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware. That long chain of experiments is part of why space still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
