A strange little side quest

Final Fantasy Sonic X2 belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. Alexey Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 after drawing inspiration from pentomino puzzles, then simplified the idea around shapes made from four squares. That is only half the story. Women's boxing made its Olympic debut at London 2012. That long chain of experiments is part of why puzzles still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
