A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Elite MiniGolf for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. That long chain of experiments is part of why sports history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
