A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Dr Panda's Daycare sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
