A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Desert Claw Rising sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Space Invaders arrived in 1978 and helped turn electronic games from an arcade curiosity into mainstream entertainment. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That long chain of experiments is part of why action games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
