A strange little side quest
Between one round of Cottagecore and the next, this is worth knowing: SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: By the 1890s, department stores and mail-order catalogs were selling mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes in standardized styles and price ranges. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
