A strange little side quest
Clash to Survival may feel immediate, but the ideas around action games have been evolving for a very long time. Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That is only half the story. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
