A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Clash Balls is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. During much of the 19th century in the United States, visibly painted cosmetics became socially unacceptable even though beauty practices never disappeared. A second detail makes the picture even better: Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. Grombi files that under: small game, surprisingly large backstory.
