A strange little side quest
A little context makes Clarence Scared Silly more fun to place on the gaming map. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. It also connects to a different milestone: Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
