A strange little side quest
Beakins' Mango Quest belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. Tomatoes helped turn Naples' flatbreads into the food we recognize as pizza, which had become an important food for poorer Neapolitans by the 18th century. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. That long chain of experiments is part of why food history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
