A strange little side quest

Bart On Skate has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. The same trail leads to another fact: Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. That gives Bart On Skate a little more company than it first appears to have.
