A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in Baby The Great. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. A second detail makes the picture even better: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Baby The Great feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
