A strange little side quest
Put Alien Onslaught next to the history of combat sports and a few unexpected connections appear. Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. A second detail makes the picture even better: Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Alien Onslaught feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
