A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like WPN Fire sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
