A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind World of Alice: Sports Cards is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. The Oregon Trail eventually appeared across generations of computer hardware and sold tens of millions of copies, making it one of the most enduring educational games. A second detail makes the picture even better: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That long chain of experiments is part of why learning games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
