A strange little side quest
The mechanics around Wilhelmus Invaders have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. And then there is this: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That gives Wilhelmus Invaders a little more company than it first appears to have.
