A strange little side quest
The next time Wedgie Toss asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. The same trail leads to another fact: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
