A strange little side quest
Unblock Red Car belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. A top Formula 1 tyre stop can happen in under two seconds; McLaren set a 1.80-second pit-stop record. It also connects to a different milestone: Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
