Ultimate Drag Racer

A strange little side quest

Put Ultimate Drag Racer next to the history of racing and a few unexpected connections appear. Formula 1 introduced pit-lane speed limits during the 1994 season as safety concerns grew around increasingly fast cars and busier pit lanes. That is only half the story. Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. That gives Ultimate Drag Racer a little more company than it first appears to have.
