A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in The Simpsons Home Interactive. Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. Not bad for a few facts hiding behind a Play button.
