A strange little side quest
The Best Russian Billiards has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That gives The Best Russian Billiards a little more company than it first appears to have.
