A strange little side quest
Here is a rabbit hole for the next loading screen in Tentacle Trouble: By the 1890s, department stores and mail-order catalogs were selling mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes in standardized styles and price ranges. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. That gives Tentacle Trouble a little more company than it first appears to have.
