A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Tanto Tactics is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Modern chess traces back to the Indian game chaturanga, recorded around the sixth century and built around pieces representing parts of an army. That is only half the story. Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Tanto Tactics feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
