A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Super Pickleball Adventure is anything but tiny. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. It also connects to a different milestone: Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. That long chain of experiments is part of why role-playing games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
