A strange little side quest
Stealin' Home may feel immediate, but the ideas around sports history have been evolving for a very long time. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. A second detail makes the picture even better: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
