A strange little side quest
A little context makes Spin Bowling more fun to place on the gaming map. The first crossword puzzle book appeared in 1924 in a cautious initial printing of 3,600 copies, complete with a free pencil. It also connects to a different milestone: Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
