A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Sort it Out sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. The Oregon Trail began in 1971 when three student teachers created a computer simulation to help Minnesota schoolchildren learn American history. The same trail leads to another fact: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. So a round of Sort it Out is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer learning games timeline.
