A strange little side quest
Sniper vs Zombie may feel immediate, but the ideas around action games have been evolving for a very long time. Space Invaders arrived in 1978 and helped turn electronic games from an arcade curiosity into mainstream entertainment. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. That gives Sniper vs Zombie a little more company than it first appears to have.
