A strange little side quest
The mechanics around Sea Monsters Food Duel have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer in 1843 that used an inner churning chamber surrounded by ice. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Women competed in Olympic archery as early as 1904, making it one of the early Olympic sports to include women. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
