A strange little side quest
If Rifle Renegade sends you down a curiosity rabbit hole, start here. Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Rifle Renegade feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
