A strange little side quest
One reason learning games keeps producing good game ideas around Recycle the Garbage is that its history is full of strange turns. Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
