A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Potty Racers II sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game, decades before modern 3D racers. The same trail leads to another fact: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
